The Indoor Billboard Advertising Association held its 2009 Annual Conference in Austin, TX October 25th to October 27th. Members came from all over North America including the US and Canada. The conference was impressive simply in the fact that it took place at all this year a clear indication of the strength of the indoor advertising industry. Many of the largest tradition advertising media such as Television, Magazines, and Out Of Home advertising have canceled their annual conferences as memberships dwindled and frankly those media have struggled as advertisers are seeking out more innovative and aggressive alternative marketing and advertising approaches.
Indoor advertising certainly works in the new advertising paradigm. Indoor billboards are placed in businesses in the restrooms and greet patrons at a time when the really want anything to read. The locations allow marketers to dial in on the exact demographic they want and be sure that their advertising message is delivered. One of the most valuable aspects of indoor billboards is their ability to reach the consumers who are still active spenders. What could better in this economy than to find the people with their wallets open.
Speakers at the Conference included Kim Ramser of DO Media a alternative media buyers and sellers service, Leith El Hassan of the AD Council and Dave Barry of Web Tools and Technologies the developer of Site Search Architect innovative search engine optimization SEO software. All forward looking concepts for the Futures advertising and marketing challenges, something the IBAA and Indoor advertising has always been about.
